Clinics & Services

 The surgery operates a range of chronic disease, health screening and health promotion clinics. These clinics are run by both practice and South Eastern Trust staff as well as other, specialist providers. They are designed to educate and support patients in managing their conditions and screen for common health problems.

You will be invited to attend a clinic if you suffer from a chronic disease; if you are felt to be at risk of developing one, or in connection with health initiatives to prevent disease.

Results of tests and investigations are available by telephoning the surgery. For reasons of confidentiality, results cannot be given to anyone other than the patient, unless their permission has been given to the surgery in advance.

Cervical Screening / Smear Tests

This service is offered to all female patients aged 25 to 64 years. Women aged 25-49 years are called for screening at three yearly intervals, and women aged 50-64 years are called every 5 years; or more frequently of required. Patients will be contacted to inform them of the result of their smear, and advised when they should make their next appointment.  Cervical screening is strongly recommended.  If however you do not wish to have a smear test, you should inform us, so that your records can be amended.

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements.  This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required. 

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible  - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations.  These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine.  Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

Most travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge.  This is because travel vaccination is not included in the services provided by the NHS and therefore is a chargeable service.

In addition to our contracted services, which take priority; the surgery may also provide private medical examinations, reports and certificates, including pre-employment medicals, and reports for DLA and insurance companies.

This work is undertaken on a private basis and a fee is payable by the patient or organisation requesting the information to cover surgery costs.
